How do you say "Eyasco", and what does it mean?
"Eyas" (eye-us) is an unfledged or nestling hawk, especially one to be trained for falconry. The name loosely represents the company logo, a hooded falcon, which is part of our founders' family crest. The addition of the "co" means "company". But when the "co" is added it seems easier for most people to say "Eye-ass-co" than to say "Eye-us-co". So there you go.
What does "post tenebras spero lucem" mean?
"After darkness hope for light." It is a common slogan on a coat of arms that includes a hooded falcon. It refers literally to the removal of the hunting falcon's hood at the beginning of the hunt. Likewise Eyasco's "end-to-end" approach turns raw data into solutions so easily, our clients monitoring efforts go from darkness to the light.
What does the bird mean?
Falcons are wild creatures and also master hunters. To tame a falcon to hunt on command takes incredible discipline and patience on the part of the trainer, as well as absolute trust between the falconer and the bird. The hooded falcon is a symbol of our discipline and the level of trust we develop with our clients.
Why are databases so important?
The database is the most important aspect of monitoring system design. It is also, without question, the most overlooked. It is the underlying structure upon which everything is built. A good database not only informs you by being able to efficiently deliver reports and graphs, its structure should also inform all aspects of system design. The versatility, dexterity and longevity of your system is directly related to the design of the underlying database.
What is the number one mistake clients can make when planning or designing a monitoring system?
Only listening to one manufacturer or sales representative as a source of information. As Mark Twain said: "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."
