The Merlin Enterprise Event Detection module can configure and manage online (real time) and offline (batch) instances of Canary for water quality event detection.
Canary is a multi-variate statistical model developed by the EPA and Sandia National Laboratories that:
- Continuously monitors water quality data at multiple locations
- Alerts the water quality analyst to periods of anomalous water quality
- Provides flexibility in choosing event detection sensitivity at each monitoring station
- Disregards water quality values observed during periods of sensor malfunction or hardware alarm
